The UTX-85 (15% smaller than an Ultratech or 85% the size of one) dual action out the front automatic knife from Microtech makes an even friendlier every day carry option. This version has a red contoured handle and a plain edge, black coated, M390 Tanto profile blade.Â
Brand new directly from Microtech Knives, USA.
Blade:Â The Tanto blade has a single, razor sharp plain edge with a discreet and durable, two-tone finish (black Cerakote on the grinds and satin on the flats). The Tanto blade is made from high performance, Bohler M390 stainless steel. The 3.125 inch blade features a double action opening and retracting mechanism. Simply move the thumb slide on the side of the handle up to deploy and down to retract. An internal spring remains at rest in both the open and closed position to reduce wear. The action is smooth and fast.Â
Handle:Â Smooth, Red anodized 6061-T6 aluminum has improved rounded edges creating not only a comfortable feel in-hand but a smooth transition in and out of your pocket. There are several areas of machine-grooved texturing around the outsides aiding in grip. This lighter more ergonomic grip is easy on the hands and eyes. The handle’s construction is completed with Microtech’s proprietary hardware, glass breaker end and black pocket clip with individual serial number/date of production.Â
Bohler M390: Bohler M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
