Cold Steel Recon Tanto represents over 30 years of development and refinement into making a superior combative fixed blade. This “American Tanto” blade shape has proven itself over other reinforced point styles making it ideal for SWAT team members or military units. With a reinforced tip for tough jobs this version comes with a Satin finished San Mai VG-10 stainless steel blade, Kray-Ex polymer handle and molded polymer sheath.

Blade: An up-swept, San Mai stainless steel blade is ground with a reinforced American Tanto tip to stay sharp even when encountering modern body armor. San Mai VG-10 stainless steel offers a good balance of durability and low maintenance while delivering enhanced edge retention in slicing tasks. A visually striking satin finish gives this piece a high-end look and feel while the San Mai laminate construction enhances durability and corrosion resistance in addition to the faux Hamon created by the laminted construction.

Handle: Kray-Ex™ textured rubber provides an all-weather grip with integral finger guard for safety and confidence in the grip under any conditions. The neutral handle design is comfortable in multiple grip positions while a hollow brass tube is provided for lanyard attachment.

Sheath: Includes a Secure-Ex molded sheath with removable nylon drop loop with snap closure.

San Mai VG10: VG-10 is a high-carbon stainless steel that takes a very good edge and holds it well. Popular with Japanese kitchen knife makers it is often hardened to 60-61 HRC A popular choice for small pocket knives thanks to good edge holding and stain resistance VG10 works well with a high polished, acute edge for optimal slicing performance. San Mai cladding gives the blade added durability and corrosion resistance.
